We extend our sincere appreciation to Prof. Dan Greenberg for his congratulatory address and for recognizing the significant work of the Institute for Rare Diseases on the occasion of our 20th anniversary. This significant event will be celebrated at the XV National Conference on Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs, taking place on September 13-14, 2024, in Plovdiv. His acknowledgment is deeply valued and highlights our steadfast dedication to advancing research and enhancing care for patients with rare diseases.

Prof. Greenberg is the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel. He teaches courses on comparative healthcare systems, health technology assessment, and the economic evaluation of healthcare technologies. Since 2008, he has also been affiliated with the Center for the Evaluation of Value and Risk in Health (CEVR) at The Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA, and serves as an adjunct faculty member at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Greenberg’s research focuses on the economic evaluation of healthcare technologies, health technology policy, and medical decision-making. He has conducted numerous economic evaluations for medical interventions and has published extensively on topics such as the willingness to pay for cardiovascular treatments, the diffusion of medical innovations, and how economic evaluations influence national coverage and reimbursement decisions.

He has authored or co-authored over 50 papers and book chapters, with his work appearing in leading journals such as the British Medical Journal, Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Health Affairs, and Value in Health. Dr. Greenberg co-founded the Israeli Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR-Israel) and served as its President. He is currently a co-editor of Value in Health, the official journal of ISPOR.
