A new disease profile is added to our database – Myasthenia gravis (MG). Myasthenia gravis is a muscular weakness having an unfavorable prognosis. Usually the muscles of the eyes and less often of the face, jaws, throat and neck are the first to be affected. In rare cases, the initial complaint may be referable to the limbs. The muscular disorder is generalized in 85% and confined to extra ocular muscles in 15 % of patients. Etiology is heterogeneous, divided between those rare congenital myasthenic syndromes which are genetic and the bulk of Myasthenia Gravis , which is acquired and auto-immune disorder caused by neuromuscular transmission defect that is clinically characterized by fluctuating weakness of voluntary muscles and fatigue.
