PubMed, the Internet portal of biomedical and life sciences literature, indexed an interesting article, entitled “Nodular lymphoid hyperplasia of the lung.” (Ann Thorac Surg. 2007 Jun;83(6):2197-9). Authors are Sakurai H, Hada M and Oyama T, from the Department of Surgery, Yamanashi Prefectural Central Hospital, Yamanashi, Japan. Nodular lymphoid hyperplasia of the lung is a very rare uncommon disease that is considered to be a benign lesion of a polyclonal lymphoid proliferation. Because of its rarity, little is known about the clinicopathologic characteristics of nodular lymphoid hyperplasia. The authors present the case of a 67-year-old woman with nodular lymphoid hyperplasia of the lung and discuss the current knowledge concerning nodular lymphoid hyperplasias.
