PubMed, the Internet portal of biomedical and life sciences literature, indexed an interesting article, entitled “Successful therapy of systemic xanthogranuloma in a child.” (J Pediatr Hematol Oncol. 2007 Jun;29(6):425-7). Authors are Univar E, Devecioglu O, Akcay A et al., from the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical Faculty, Istanbul, Turkey. Systemic juvenile xanthogranuloma is a rare disease in children. A 10-year-old boy who showed renal, pulmonary, and liver involvement is reported. He had pulmonary invasion, renal mass, and nodular liver lesions but no bone involvement. The diagnosis was confirmed by renal biopsy. The patient was treated with pulse high-dose methylprednisolone.
